Christmas Dinner

Dinner gathering at mum-in law's house

Mum-in law's 1 foot tall cute C'mas tree

Fresh crab meat with lots of roe

Melting in a kuali

Yummy... it's done

Family favourite! It's finger licking good!

A cup of chinese tea not wine.

This year, we've decided to have a different menu totally for Christmas. We had "Bak Kut Teh" for Christmas Eve dinner ( in a restaurant) and Stir-fry crab for Christmas Dinner instead of the normal Roast Turkey. It was indeed a wonderful and peaceful moment spent with family.

Blessed Christmas to all and May God bless you.

Choong - Glutinous Rice Dumplings

Two types of "Choong"

Square based pyramid shape

Inside of "Toong Koon Choong"

Inside of "Belacan Choong"

We had a scrumptious meal yesterday. My mum-in-law made these delicious "Choong". We usually eat them and "ta pau" the extra for the next few days. She learned to made these from her mother(a Toong Koon Cantonese). Therefore, it was named "Toong Koon Choong". CK likes the "Belacan Choong"but we all love the " Toong Koon Choong"Yummy!!! Burrp....

POPIAH

Above : Ingredients for popiah plus a bowl of seafood porridge
The cili padi is only for BLeng!

Above : Popiah ready to eat!

My kitchen is " off duty" on weekends and I always look forward to the weekends meals with my mother-in-law. She is a fantastic cook! She is ever ready to prepare almost anything we like(Chinese dishes). All we need to do is to place an order in advance!

Yesterday we had "Popiah". She was shock to see us coming home for dinner with our cameras, which we normally just indulge in eating only. We thought we better not loose this opportunity to snap some nice looking food dish from her kitchen. More to come in future, hopefully.
